Scrumple Hat
The Scrumple Hat crochet pattern is available to purchase from Ravelry and Etsy!
This is my new favourite hat, it is warm, cosy, thick and squishy and full of texture. I chose the King Cole Crescendo yarn, I love it as it is Aran but it isn’t too thick and has a lovely soft feel to it, however, you can use and yarn you like, just make sure to check your gauge with the pattern.
This pattern is beginner-friendly and fun to make, giving you a hat that’s not just practical but also a statement piece. The Scrumple Hat comes in a range of autumn-inspired colours, making it a perfect gift—or a treat for yourself!
The Scrumple hat is perfect for experimenting with colour, it looks great in a variegated yarn, block colour or stripes!

Construction
The Scrumple Hat is made from the bottom up, starting with the ribbing for the brim. The ribbing is worked using sc stitches and you can easily customise the brim width. Simply just add extra stitches to the brim if you need a wider brim or work less stitches for a narrower brim.
The main body of the hat is worked with a variety of single crochet, and double crochet stitches and is worked in rounds from the brim up.
There are round decreases for shaping towards the crown, after the last round you will use your yarn needle and the yarn tail to close up the hole and fasten off.
The Scrumple hat can be finished off with a pom pom or worn as a beanie.
