Sunshine Child’s Hoodie

The Sunshine Hoodie crochet pattern is available to purchase from Ravelry and Etsy!

The Sunshine Hoodie Crochet Pattern holds a special place in my heart, as it was the very first design I created in the raglan style. The process taught me so much and pushed me to grow as a designer, especially when it came to grading the pattern across different sizes for the first time.

This is an intermediate-level crochet pattern, with a yoke that requires careful stitch counting. I highly recommend using stitch markers to help keep everything on track as you work through the shaping.

The Sunshine Hoodie Crochet Pattern comes in 6 child sizes, 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-12 months, 12-18 months, 18-24 months and 24-36 months. The length of the arms and body and easily be adjusted by adding/removing rows.

The Sunshine Hoodie pattern creates a thick warm fabric, perfect to keep little ones warm on those cooler Autumn and Spring days.

I used Stylecraft Special DK yarn to get the right look and feel for me and I love that this yarn comes in lots of different colours but you can use whatever yarn gives you the drape you want just make sure you make adjustments to get the right gauge. I used 4mm and 3.5mm hooks but you may need to adjust this if you’re using a different yarn.

This is a great project to make for your own little ones but also a lovely gift.

Construction

The Sunshine Hoodie crochet pattern is a bright child’s hoodie using a stitch pattern which gives a thick, textured luxury feel perfect to keep little ones warm and cosy.  This stripey hoodie is made in top-down raglan style and there is very little sewing to do.

The pattern is split into sections to make it easier to follow, you will work the yoke first, then the body section followed by sleeves and then finally the hood and ribbing.

Yarn and Materials

To make your own Sunshine Hoodie, you’ll need:

  • DK yarn (I used Stylecraft Special DK)
  • 4mm & 3.5mm crochet hooks
  • A yarn needle for weaving in ends
  • Stitch markers for help with the yoke corners.

I love this design in the stripe pattern, however you can easily experiment with colour combinations or work the hoodie in one colour.

Have fun and happy crocheting!
