Skye Summer Sweater
The Skye Summer Sweater crochet pattern is available to purchase from Ravelry and Etsy!
The inspiration for the Skye Summer Sweater Crochet Pattern came from a shopping trip, I was about to purchase a jumper but it didn’t fit the way I would have liked and it occurred to me that maybe I could design something similar and make it fit exactly how I want. I began designing and soon realised this was an ambitious project for me and the Skye Summer Sweater was going to be a challenge since I was determined to include a variety of stitches to get the right look and texture. The hard work paid off though and I’m so happy with the final result and I’m excited to share the Skye Summer Sweater Crochet Pattern with you.
The Skye Sweater Crochet Pattern is an intermediate pattern, it’s a great pattern for experimenting with colour as the design naturally lends itself to stripes but also looks great in variegated yarn.

The Skye Sweater is a lightweight jumper. I used a cotton and acrylic mix DK yarn (Sirdar Stories) to get the right look and feel for me but you can use whatever yarn gives you the drape you want just make sure you make adjustments to get the right gauge. I used 4mm and 4.5mm hooks but you may need to adjust this if you’re using a different yarn.
The Skye Sweater is ideal for layering, put a vest top underneath in different colours to give you a completely different look.
This is a great project to make for yourself but also a lovely gift.

Construction
This is an intermediate pattern, perfect for experienced crocheters who love to experiment with new stitch patterns and enjoy projects with a variety of stitches. The Skye Sweater crochet pattern gives you an effective open work stitch pattern for a lightweight summer jumper.

The pattern is worked in sections. You will work a front and back panel, then work 2 sleeves, seam together and add ribbing around the hem and neck line.
Yarn and Materials
To make your own Skye Sweater, you’ll need:
- DK yarn (I used Sirdar Stories DK)
- 4mm & 4.5mm crochet hooks
- A yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Optional: stitch markers for tracking repeat sections
This design works beautifully in solid or semi-solid yarns that show off the stitch texture. You could even try a gentle gradient or variegated yarn.
Have fun and happy crocheting!
